AMC220BC SN Fatigue Curve

220bc microstructure

AMC220bc

Material Grade:

AMC220bc

Material Type:

Metal Matrix Composite - Boron Carbide Particle Reinforced Aluminium Alloy

Description:

AMC220bc is a high quality aerospace grade aluminium alloy (AA2124) reinforced with 20% by volume of ultra-fine / high purity particles of boron carbide. It is manufactured by a powder metallurgy route using high-energy mixing to ensure excellent particle distribution and to enhance mechanical properties.

This material offers a high tensile modulus (approximately 60% higher than the parent alloy), good strength, excellent fatigue characteristics and is particularly suited to applications demanding a good balance of properties. It is also lightweight, offering a 5% reduction in density over AMC225xe. AMC220bc may be machined to fine surface finish and tolerances using high speed techniques.
