In response to customers' demands for higher performance, AMC has extended the product range to include specialist elevated temperature aluminium alloys and novel composites with alternative matrices and reinforcements. These include:

  • Xfine - high strength, nanostructured, aluminium-based materials

  • Calidus - elevated temperature aluminium alloys

  • Dynamis - steel MMCs

  • Boron-modified titanium alloys

  • Nano-scale, dispersion hardened aluminium alloys

  • Lightweight matrices and reinforcements

Process Capability

As a result of increasing demand, AMC has an active programme to improve the production and use of its products to secure reliable, reproducible and cost effective supply:

  • Availability – Increase capacity and output through automation techniques

  • Efficiency – To work with customers and design high yield near net shape and cost effective process techniques

  • Reproducibility - To establish suitable procedures, inspection checks and design data for AMC products

  • Product Form & Sizes – To ensure that AMC materials are available in suitable sizes and shapes.

Collaborative Programmes

 

AMC actively participates in a wide range of research and development programmes.  As well as undertaking research for the UK Ministry of Defence and the European Space Agency on a number of new key material technologies, we participate in collaborative programmes with some of Europe’s leading industrial groups and academic institutions.  Additional Government sponsored, application focussed programmes are undertaken with industrial companies to develop technologies leading to the commercial exploitation of the materials in new products.
