Materials AMC has developed materials to provide a combination of mechanical and physical properties that can not be achieved through conventional materials or process techniques. AMC produces Aluminium/Silicon Carbide Particulate MMCs with class-leading mechanical properties that is easy to process and machine. Products are based on AA2124 and AA6061 alloy systems, reinforced with up to 40% ultra-fine SiC particulate. Material is available as billet, plate, forging stock, bulk and precision extrusion. Standard grades include:
AMC produces an Aluminium/Boron Carbide Particulate MMC offering similar mechanical properties to its Silicon Carbide reinforced counterpart but with a significant weight saving. The product is based on AA2124 alloy, reinforced with 20% ultra-fine Boron Carbide particulate. Product forms include billet, plate and bulk extrusion.
AMC has developed a range of Elevated Temperature Aluminium Alloys that offer outstanding strength and fatigue performance at temperatures of up to 400ºC.
Collaborative work in European programmes has led to the development of Particle Reinforced Steels that offer density reduction and improvement in elastic modulus compared to conventional steels.
New Products AMC has a strong and active development team and is continuously developing new products for a growing range of applications. Active links are maintained with a number of leading academic, government and customer research organisations to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of materials development. One such is development is AMC XfineTM, a cutting-edge family of materials with an exceptional combination of mechanical and physical properties. For further information, please
