Newsletter AMC publishes a regular newsletter, which contains details of all of the recent developments at the company. Below is a selection of articles from the most recent edition. If you would like to receive the newsletter on a regular basis, please contact us. NDT Test Facility Upgrade
To meet the ever increasing quality requirements for performance applications, AMC has recently installed a new automated ultrasonic test facility. The company now has an in-house capability to inspect billets and forgings to class AA or AAA levels depending on section geometry and thickness. The equipment uses high frequency sound waves to automatically scan material to certify cleanliness. Material is immersed in water to allow a good transfer of ultrasound. A billet rotation system allows automated diametric scanning of round billets. Inspection results can be stored for future reference and analysis.
Increased Data for Piston Design
As a result of the increasing demands from engine applications such as pistons, AMC has expanded its mechanical property database - primarily elevated temperature fatigue - to assist designers. Axial tests have been completed to be relevant to the pin-bore design case and rotating bend data appropriate to the crown region. The data has shown significant improvements over alternative piston alloys, allowing greater piston life. As well as billet, forging and extrusion product forms, we now offer piston forgings.
